Great Price, Without Sacrificing Performance November 17, 2008 The DSC-W55 was my first Digital Camera and wow, what an impressive first camera to own.
The picture quality is very good, it takes pictures fast, and I put an 8 GB card into it and I can take almost 2 hours of video. The video feature really does make this a video camera as well, high quality and such.
Sony DSC-W55 Camera is junk October 10, 2008 This is my second camera of this model. I loved the first one I bought last year, but dropped it on the kitchen counter about 12 inches and the lens stopped working. I was quoted $150 to repair it, and instead opted to buy the same model again because it took great photos and thinking the first camera was a lemon. Six months into owning the 2nd camera, the lens quit ejecting. In addition to cheap plastic parts on the sides, this will be my last Sony camera.
love this camera!!! September 7, 2008 I bought this cammera almost a year ago and it has been awesome...one of my favorite things about the camera is the beach setting. Since i live near the beach i spend alot of time there and the pictures really show the rich blue color of the water and there is rarely any blur. The one thing that this camera lacks is capturing in dark situations. When it is dark the pictures often become blurry with wierd streaks of light. Besides that I love this camera...it is tiny so it fits anywhere...it is durable (trust me i have dropped it several times)...and the battery stays charged for long periods of time.
Great camera! September 4, 2008 I got this camera as a gift nearly a year ago, and I've taken it all over the place, including in my pocket all around Europe. It has not let me down once. It takes good pictures and turns on quickly which is important when traveling. It's small enough to fit in your pocket and isn't bulky when put in a similar sized case. The only criticism I would have with this camera is that it can be somewhat sensitive to lighting conditions or can sometimes produce blurry pictures....but on the whole, I would recommend this camera as being a great point and shoot! It also takes decent video as well. I loved being able to select the blue color for the camera as opposed to the usual black or silver, which I thought was a nice feature that makes my camera unique, even from an aesthetic standpoint.
Noice cam but annying red lazer light September 4, 2008 I got this camera for my girlfriend and she loves it. It's cute, small, and slick looking. And most of the photos taken with it look pretty good. My one complaint with it though, is that when you hold down the button to take a picture it shines this red lazer light into the eyes of the people getting their picture taken and then it goes off...and then it snaps. So not only do they have to squint and hold their pose but then the red light tricks them when it goes off and they start moving about just as the snap actually happens.
