Black Code...VS armani code...just FYI. June 12, 2008 In 2004 armani release a great cologne named armani BLACK CODE. As the bottle shown above is depicting. This cologne was renamed and changed (reformulated) to be much milder and lost its distinctive peppery smell. Do not confuse the two, they are not the same. See the description of the two colognes below. I attempted to spray the "code" that I received from amazon today after ordering the "black code" to see if they were indeed the same. The "black code" on my right arm is much stronger and makes me sneeze when I put it on but lasts a lot longer and blends well with my skin, It smells a little peppery/leathery and is very masculine. I can still smell it after washing my arm 6 hours later. The code faded quite quickly (an hour) and was in general much much milder in odor than the "black code" fragrance. While black code was discontinues many black code users may be disappointed to try the newer cologne as it really is not the same. I don't blame amazon for the switch as Armani brands them the same but it is clear to anyone who smells the two that they are very different. Armani Black Code is the new oriental-inspired fragrance for men from designer Giorgio Armani. This sophisticated and irresistibly attractive fragrance develops gradually, reacting differently with each man's skin to give a unique and personalised scent. Fresh citrus top note combines with base notes of tobacco, fine leather and rare guaiac wood for a subtle, understated and very masculine scent. Also has notes of Spiced bergamot brightens a subtle olive flower heart, and tonka bean.

Excellent blend April 6, 2008 I absolutely LOVE this one. I only use this when I go out for a party or gathering at night. Nice musky, dark tone to it.
Armani Black - strong January 19, 2008 Don't particularly care for this one. The smell is quite strong & heavy. I kept sneezing after my boyfriend used it (2 squirts).

Guys, remember: your mileage may vary. You always want to try a scent on your skin to get an idea of how well it'll work: the scents react with your own to produce the final result.
That said, I thought I'd be buying myself a bottle of this today...until I tested it. It hit me strong with a masculine reek that then settled into what seemed like a milder form of Drakkar (a personal favorite). Unfortunately, after a few minutes it seemd to transform on me, smelling like some bizarre minty, candy-like fragrance.
If you want bang for your buck, this might also be called "Eternity: the last fragrance you'll ever need"--it's been 8 hours, I've been swimming, had a hot shower, and I can still smell it. The nozzle kind of saturation-bombs you with a tap. ;)
