 Unique, warm scent September 25, 2008
I have been trying to find a replacement for Burberry Red for a number of reasons: most importantly, they've discontinued it, but also I was unhappy with the lasting power of the Burberry scents (seriously, if I'm paying $65 for 1.7 oz, can you please make it last at least 6 hours? Burberry was lucky to make it 2!)
So I went into my local perfumier, and smelled hundreds of scents, without finding anything I liked. I never tried any of the celebuscents, they have such a reputation for being kinda cheezy, but at the end of this testing session I was getting desperate, so I sniffed Deseo, and WOW! This was the only scent I was able to find with the soft mineral base that wasn't overly musky or sickeningly sweet. It's kinda complex, but not too much, and it's got some spicy, some sweet, some floral. I admit, I like sweet scents, but this accomplished sweet without being cloying, and it was warm and fuzzy too, with a light fresh note that I pick up every once in a while.
I'm not a perfume expert by any means, but I was so pleased with the perfume that I bought it and I'm so glad I did - this is my new fave!

I'm rubbish at describing scents, but here I go:
On application the fragrance is `green'. The notes of bamboo leaves, bergamot and yuzu are fresh, but not heavy. If anything I was surprised by how light DESEO is.
After a short while the fragrance `warms' with the geranium, orange blossom and mimosa. Other people who have tried DESEO have said the scent is sweet and fruity, but I haven't experienced this. I can detect a faint hint of coconut, though there's no mention of this is in the fragrance notes. Maybe it's just because I'm reminded of suntan lotion!!
The mineral accord in the base is the most dominant for me; it lends an aquatic air to DESEO. I can also detect the woods, bringing to mind tropical woodland by a beach.
