Product Description
What it is:The original-and still the best-rose-tinted cheek and lip stain. What it does:Benefit Benetint is a kiss-proof and waterproof, indelibly sheer tint. It gives an innocent yet provocative glow to keep everyone guessing, "what has she been up to?"What else you need to know:It's the sexiest flush you can get from a bottle.

5 out of 5 stars A great product for my cheeks and lips   September 13, 2008
After reading some of the reviews I was a little skeptical when I placed the order. However my skepticism wore off when I first used it. I have a medium / olive skin tone and The color is rosy pink therefore it goes perfect for my skin tone and doesn't come out as too red-ish. Recently I've gotten a tan for staying out in the sun too much during summer (more like my face went red), and the color of the tint almost mimicked it very close. So during winter after my tan wears off I can use this tint for sun kissed cheeks look.

The product itself is light weight easy to apply with the brush (then you have to rub it with a finger). I like the smell of rose water. It didn't give me a breakout. Overall I will buy this product again.

I will recommend this product for people with medium to dark skin tone.

3 out of 5 stars Not up to the hype   July 23, 2008
I was really excited to get Benetint because of all the good things I've heard about it. When I finally got it, I put it on immediately but was disappointed because it didn't show up that well (I'm tan in the summer and yellow-toned in the winter - it's the Chinese!). Also, it stained my fingers , which faded during the day, but was still bothersome to look at in the first couple of hours. On the plus side, it was really easy to blend because it's liquid and I guess if I had layered on more, it would have shown up better. Also, it smells REALLY good, like a fresh bunch of roses! However, I decided to return this in favor of Tarte cheek stains because the nail-polish application just wasn't working for me. I like Tarte cheek stains better because they're a more solid, gel-like substance and I feel like they show up better. But that's just me! Benetint is good if you can get the hang of the application and don't mind stained fingers for a couple hours after! I only tried this as a cheek stain, since I wasn't looking for a lip stain.

5 out of 5 stars Love it!   June 11, 2008

I just purchased the Benetint this past weekend and absolutely love it! I don't wear a lot of makeup, but never skip on the blush. I have been using the MAC "Raisenesque" cheek hue, but it has been discontinued, so I was desperatley trying to find a replacement.

I find that using a Q-tip (just lightly dipped in the stain) works very well for applying the tint. I also use a foundation brush to blend it, so my fingers don't get stained. I agree with the other reviews...you definitely need to blend it fast, but the MAC cheek hue was the same way, so I was used to it.

I apply a light setting powder all over, and then just a light brushing of MAC powder blush on top, just to intensify the color a bit, although it really doesn't need it. It lasts all throughout the workday, which is impressive. I wear a surgical mask everyday and my blush usually is gone by lunch. The color continues to last through my lunch workout, which is more than I can say w/ my prior blush!

I am a little concerned about taking it on vacation with me later this month though...I worry that the bottle or cap will break during the trip and ruin everything in my suitcase. I guess I'll have to use the original packaging, bubble wrap, and some ziplocs! I was thinking about purchasing the smaller version w/ the gloss, as it may be more practical for travel.

Definitely try it out at the retailer first to get an idea of what you're purchasing...although I was actually happier w/ it once I tried it at home!

5 out of 5 stars pleasantly surprised!   May 8, 2008

I bought this, originally, as a lip stain. I did not care for the smell (roses) or the lasting effects on my lips...so I decided to try it as a cheek stain. I have NEVER used a cheek stain before...but I was feeling adventurous. I LOVE IT! I will not buy powder blush again, I am HOOKED on this stuff! make it as light or dark as you wish and it lasts all day! I am in love with it and it is almost time to buy some more!

5 out of 5 stars "Natural" beauty in a bottle   May 6, 2008
I'm on my second bottle of Benetint now. This isn't because I used up the first one--my initial bottle fell victim to dehydration when the cap cracked. Apparently, this was a very common problem because the plastic was very thin and brittle. After the bottle dried up into kind of a yucky crimson goo, I decided to go out and buy another bottle and be extra-super-duper careful with the lid.

Imagine my surprise when I found that Benefit had improved their lids dramatically by using (what seems to be) better plastic that is also reinforced on the inside. And they have also done something different with the lettering on the bottle--now the letters don't rub off over time to create a weird-looking alphabet soup on the side of your Benetint. To all this, I say "Bravo!" to Benefit for taking the time and money to improve a product that was selling like hotcakes regardless of the packaging flaws.

Ok, ok, I know that the price might seem a little steep. You know, before I started using this stuff, I thought that $28 was a lot to ask for a little bottle of red liquid. But even with daily use, this bottle will last at least a year (probably longer) so I'd say you get your money's worth. And it gives me such a natural, rosey flush that I think it's worth every penny. (BTW, I am a brunette with olive-toned skin.)

I've learned a lot about how to use this product through trial and error. I didn't used to wear foundation, so my normal routine was to glide on some moisturizer, rub on a little Benetint, then top with some translucent powder. That worked well enough, but I found that the lovely finished look I stepped out the door with just didn't stay put. By the end of the day, I was looking a ruddy, not rosey.

Nowadays, I've learned my lesson. I'm using Benefit Some Kind-A Gorgeous as a super-light foundation and then putting the Benetint on top. That way the product can do what it's really supposed to do--that is, stay in place all day with no need for touching up. I just paint three little stripes on the apples of my cheeks and blend gently with my ring finger. It's very important to use the ring finger for blending because (at least in my case) using my index or middle fingers just don't do the job. I think that they press down so hard that the Benetint just sort of disappears into my cheeks, whereas with the ring finger the stain seems to linger closer to the surface. I don't know, maybe I'm just imagining things. Anyway, this process takes maybe two minutes at the most. I top everything with a little bit of Benefit's Dandelion powder and I'm out the door. It's a pretty quick makeup routine.

Most days I also use Benefit as a lip stain. You have to be really careful at first when you're doing the lining and filling because the liquid can be a little bit tricky. But I think the effort is worth it because the stain really does last. Besides, when you do decided to do a touch-up during the day, the process is much less annoying. Just dab a bit into the middle of your lips and spread with your pinky. Easy. I only need to touch up right after meals. For the rest of time time, my lips retain that just-sucked-a-lollipop color.

So I think it's clear that I love Benetint. I'm very fond of it because of it's staying power and the natural rosiness of the flush, but I also enjoy using it as a matching lip stain. Using Benetint on cheeks AND lips gives me a very polished look, but one which is still natural and youthful.

Basically what I'm saying here is... try it! Just don't be like me and skip the foundation.
