The BEST Tinted Moisterizer-Like Foundation Ever! December 26, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was looking for a foundation that looked natural and that did not accumulate in the wrinkles. After trying all sorts of different things, I stumbled upon BalmShelter.
It is awesome! I've never seen anything like it.
It is so versatile, it blows me away.
It goes on matte and has incredible coverage. More like a foundation, than a tinted moisturizer. BUT it has the naturalness and moisture of a tinted moisturizer.
If you have mature skin, as I do, it does not accumulate in the wrinkles and, shockingly enough, makes the funky parts of older skin disappear and, at the very least, minimizes them.
Then, depending on either your skin type or the season, you can play with it to get the results that you need, i.e., in the summer wear it by itself, in the winter, add a little moisturizer underneath; if you need hydration, add hydrating moisturizer or hydrating toner. In other words, you can use it year-round and in any climate. Ingenious!!!
After experimenting a little in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I live, in the winter, I've come to THE simplest, most wonderful way to use BalmShelter: I spray on a rose/glycerin toner (which is hydrating) and put on BalmShelter. Done! My skin looks smooth, moist and, at the end of the day, the good ingredients in both, make my skin look even better than when I started out in the morning!
And, then, of course, it works for younger skin, too! Since it goes on matte and is not greasy or oily . . . . I've never seen a product so healthy, versatile for all skin types and all ages.
Oh, and it feels GREAT on, light and fresh, not sticky or powdery or heavy, yet the coverage is incredible. And it has SPF!!!
Well, no idea how they did that, but sure as heck am glad I discovered it. And for this price! It's unbeatable!
ULTRA PROTECTION PLUS A GLOWING, POLISHED LOOK August 16, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Even if we don't go out of doors without a sombrero or bonnet, sun protection is still a must. We fair skinned ones have a special need to block those damaging rays that cause (heaven forbid; knock on wood; please, not yet, we're still too young) wrinkles.
So, we've tried a bevy of sun screens. Many were so greasy that we looked oily (an enhancement for sardines, does little for people). Other products felt heavy and tended to clog pores. Our favorite foundation has zip SPF, and we do need some color! Then along came Balm shelter.
This terrific product comes in three skin tones, and not only offers the appropriate amount of moisturizing but also sufficient sun protection - SPF 18! It's a very silky formulation that glides on easily with sponge or fingers, leaving skin soft and looking great. The result is a healthy, glowing, polished look.....and no need for sombreros or bonnets.
