I very unwisely decided to purchase (untested) Un Jardin En Mediterranee due to my love of it's exquisite sister fragrance, Un Jardin Sur Le Nil, an impressive 5 star review on Amazon and because it's made by Hermes. Unfortunately when I closed my eyes and sprayed it on my wrist, I was not whisked away to imagined visions of exotic Mediterranean gardens, but a place quite different. I was taken back in time, to memories of when my daughter was once again 6. We were standing together putting fresh cedar shavings in her beloved guinea pig, Killian's, cage. I'm serious- we're talking strong cedar recordations (not Sandalwood). When my daughter came over that week (now 27), I decided to test it out on her. "Honey, Try this perfume and see if you like it. It wasn't cheap and it's just not me- I'm hoping to find someone that loves it and make it a gift." She eyed me suspicioulsy then sprayed it on. "Wh-o-o-w-e-e, it's definitely not me either!" Sincerely dissapointed, I took the bottle and recapped it. Trying to be the eternal optimist, I smiled, looked at her and said, "It does bring back some good memories though, kind'ave reminescent of our days with Killian- don't ya think?" She looked stunned for a few seconds then burst out laughing. "This is true" she nodded in agreement.
I love most Hermes fragrances. I'm sure that our case is just a skin chemistry incompatibility- Un Jardin En Mediterranee is probably incredible on those individuals fortunate to have been endowed with the appropriate genetic sequencing. All I can say is, let the Tester be your guide!

I've never smelled anything like this. If you've ever been to the Mediterranean coast, you will be instantly transported by this scent. It goes on strong, lasts long, and dries down to a wonderfully woodsy-citrusy finish that definitely has a bit of ocean air - but not the "Yankee Candle Ocean Water" type scent... this is the real thing, like an aromatherapy treatment you can take with you! Rejoice, all women who are tired of sugary-syrupy womens' perfume! This is it!

This fragrance takes you on holiday to a place you may never have been. It is a warm environment, smelling of salt water and warm skin. There is a tang in the air of citrus, maybe grapefruit. This blend is absolutely delicious, inspring a hunger for more. I simply can't get enough of Un Jardin en Mediterranee.
The Eau de Toilette is very light and subtle. Fresh but not girly. Tangy, not sweet. This fragrance is for women who understand the allure of salt and warm skin.
I purchased this fragrance 3 weeks ago and have worn nothing else since; it will remain one of the four or five fragrances I wear. I look forward to when the line expands to include body cremes or lotions, or bath products.
