I'm a relatively new Bare Escentuals convert, but I became obsessed and am thus pretty well-versed in the product line AND with its cost, which sometimes makes it hard to experiment! The starter kits are great, but they only provide the basic skin colors, not anything "fun". The Superstars kit gives you some color AND some sparkle.
Brushes: The brushes alone would cost about $50, I think, so they make the kit worth its price right off the bat.
Eyeshadow: Periwinkle-ish shades are really adaptable. I've used each with blue, green and wine-brown colors and they look great with all. Aurora, especially, is extremely versatile since it's more of a grey. Although I find all Bare Escentuals eyeshadows to be blendable like that, this set is especially versatile.
Face color/Blush: So far I haven't figured out how to use all-over face color without looking like I have a sunburn, but I am very fair. This combo of Empowerment blush and the neutral all-over face color is perfect because the color is adjustable, depending on how much of each you tap out.
Mineral veil: I wear BE primarily because it's good for my skin compared to other products, but one of its chief advantages is the way it diffuses light across your face, and never, ever cakes into your wrinkles. I'm only 28, so I can't really say that anyone ELSE would think my face looks more "luminous" with the Mineral Veil than without. On the other hand, I am convinced that I look like a movie star once I put it on.
Lip gloss: smells good, tastes good, isn't too sticky, and tingles slightly like Burt's Bees chapstick. The color is neutral.
Overall, definitely worth the $54 if you need a little bit of everything!
