I must admit, $26 is a lot of money for me to spend on a single make-up item (not a palette). But the Guerlain lip products are pretty irresistible to my inner beauty junkie, so I decided to give this one a try and I'm glad I did. (I bought the "Amber Sun" color, so I can't say much about the other shades - yet)! There were a few things about this product that pleased and delighted me. One is that this gives full coverage - much like a lipstick. It isn't sheer on the lips, or at least not in the color I bought. It also has fantastic staying power, even through eating and drinking. Nor is it sticky or gooey in the way that glosses often are. It does offer lips some moisture, but this clearly is not a product loaded with petroleum. Also, although I was rather expecting a sparkly hue, this is a modest, more refined shimmer. And the packaging is even more beautiful than the online photos have shown it to be.
So, is this going to look good on you? I think it depends on your skin tone. The Amber Sun color is a bit too dark and too neutral for my fair skin, but it would be lovely on someone with a tan, or with a darker complexion. It's a pretty, sophisticated shade that doesn't draw a lot of attention to itself, and therefore could easily be worn in a professional environment. I think women over 25 are more likely to enjoy this product than younger women addicted to glosses, but to each her own! I'm planning to buy a few more shades of this, and I think most women would do well to have a few of these little jewels in their bag of tricks.
