Rubbing Alcohol anyone? August 21, 2008 Never ever put any alcohol based (exception is fatty alcohols) products on your skin unless you are in a medical setting! Alcohol not only strips the skin of moisture, but it is so bad that it wrecks the skincells structure and can't repair itself. Alcohol makes skin dull, flaky, irritated, and can exacerbate acneic skin. I cannot believe that the 'clarifying' lotions are still around.
I don't recommend this June 29, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this product for years and years without really questioning how much it helped. I figured that the gunk on the cotton ball was evidence enough that this product worked.
However, I started to notice that I broke out right along the boundary of where I didn't use this product. And my skin seemed to get oilier and oilier despite the fact that I theoretically should have been outgrowing acne.
I now believe that this product over-dried my skin and my skin responded with producing even more oil (obviously not the result I was looking for).
Anyway, if you want a nice toner, this will fit the bill. But I think other products will give better results if you really want to see a difference in your skin. If you are having major issues: there are generic versions of proactive that really work (but caution they bleach your clothes).
I have settled into a skin care routine of using Cetaphil's Gentle Cleanser followed by Clinique's Superdefense twice daily. That has worked well for me for the past year or so.
A Classic! June 22, 2008 I don't know if Clinique still makes a Clarifying Lotion #5. I have been using their clarifying lotion since my teens and nothing shrinks the pores, exfoliates and keep oily skin under control quite like it. Like another reviewer, I have passed it on to my own daughters. And, while I use Clarifying Lotion #1 nowadays, I owe my complexion to Clinique.
really good for oily skin February 20, 2008 this toner is part of clinique 3 step for oily skin. I used the 3 steps liquid soap, this, and the moisturizer. The result is amazing. My skin is not oily anymore. Even until now. Right now i am not using this toner since i used all of them up. But i am still using the soap and the moisturizer since i didn't use them all yet. *but i also use different product* I think it is better to use all 3 products than skipping it like me. Since i can feel the difference when i am not using the toner. The first time i use all of them my skin is not only oil free but also help my acne. But when i didnt use the complete step. I dont see improvement in my acne. But this products' only purpose is to avoid oily skin. For other skin problem such as acne. Clinique has different products. For OILY SKIN ONLY : VERY RECOMMENDED
Fabulous! August 13, 2007 Takes the dirt and grime of the day off your face, leaving you feeling clean and "spotless"
