Amazon.com Review When is a clock not just a clock? When it provides so much more than just the time: temperature, phase of the moon, and accuracy within one second per year, for example. This handsome wall clock, with its dual LCD screens and black-accented brushed aluminum finish, is an example of household life being enhanced by science. The WS-8117U-AL can hang on the wall or stand freely, with a built-in, fold-out stand. Radio-controlled time (to the hour, minute, and second) and date are prominently displayed, along with indoor and outdoor temperatures measured in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. The day of the week can be displayed in English, French, Spanish or German. Time can be displayed in 12- or 24-hour modes, and time zones from Greenwich Mean Time to -12 GMT can be selected, with three-letter identifications for US time zones. An alarm feature is useful as a timer, and, if the clock happens to hang or stand near a bed (or a couch that's used for napping), a snooze feature allows for gradual wake-up. Moon phase shows in twelve increments, from new moon, through gibbous and crescent phases (waxing and waning), to quarter and finally full moon. The clock comes with La Crosse wireless transmitter TX37U-IT. Clock and transmitter each operate on two AA batteries. For options in wall mounting, three screws and screw anchors and a strong adhesive tape are included. The WS-8117U-AL measures 12-1/4 by 8 by 1-1/4 inches. La Crosse provides a one-year limited warranty on its clocks. Each clock comes with a thoroughly detailed instruction booklet. --Garland Withers

Pretty good, but definitely not perfect January 9, 2009 I've had this atomic clock for a few days now. Overall, it's a very useful device, but there are some, say, glitches.
1. It takes several minutes before it first gets the correct time. 2. Setting the time zone is not done exactly like the manual says. 3. I have it so the seconds of the minute are displayed (as opposed to the outdoor temperature), and I noticed an irregular time period between seconds (as well as for the blinking ':' in the big clock). Almost as if there was like some weird refresh rate, like 2.8hz or something. 4. The indoor temperature display tends to keep switching back and forth between two temperatures like every 20 seconds or so (like it might say 72.3 degrees, then 72.7, then 72.3, then 72.7, etc.). 5. At first I was a little confused by the moon phase indicator (because it uses dark areas to depict the moon's bright areas). 6. A minor thing, but the indicator that shows that it's *receiving* a signal makes it look as if it's *broadcasting* a signal.
All in all, it's a nice and useful product (I never have to adjust the time, it shows the temperature, etc.), but I wish La Crosse would have made this without so many little annoyances.
clock January 9, 2009 This clock is okay. The size is great. It takes quite some time for the clock to "download" (about 24 hours for the moon phase) and the outdoor temperature gauge didn't work.
Attractive looking accurate digital wall clock January 9, 2009 This clock has worked very good for 2 years. It is still working after 3 years and the time is still atomically synced, but the outdoor temperature sensor stopped working after about 2 years and it is not displayed on the clock. I changed the battery in the sensor and tried all suggestions in the manual and tried to sync it again, but could not get temperature back. I even called the manufacturer, but they were no help. Originally I mainly purchased it for the clock, but grew to like the outside temp feature. I would give it five stars if the temp still functioned.
Outdoor temp reader not working. January 6, 2009 I had recieved one as a gift a few years ago. About a year after having it, the outdoor temp reader went bizerk. Most of the time there are only 2 dashes where the temp should show. Sometimes, the number display counts from 0 to 59 continuously. Overall, if the outdoor temp continued to work, I would purchase it again. I love how large the numbers are-very easy to read across the room.
Love the Clock January 5, 2009 Hey, just got both of these today and I set them and now I have a quiet clock, plus knowing what the temp is outside. I had two of those tick tick clocks which is annoying. Now I have quiet and love them. They were easy to set. Quality is great too.
